Clark distracts Adam, allowing Billy to escape while he transforms into Superman. Upon arriving at a local diner to meet up with Clark Kent, who is writing an article about Billy's situation, Billy is attacked by Black Adam, having returned to Earth as a meteor crashing into a hillside the night before, stating his intent to kill him before a " Wizard" could get to him.
In Fawcett City, young Billy Batson is an orphaned boy who has recently been kicked out by his foster parents and is living alone in a rundown slum. This also marked James Garner's last performance before his retirement the same year and his death on July 19, 2014. Released on November 9, 2010 ( ) as the main feature on the compilation DVD DC Showcase Original Shorts Collection, Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam was the fourth (and to date, longest) of the DC Showcase series, which were also included in extended versions. George Newbern and Jerry O'Connell reprised their roles from the DC animated series Justice League Unlimited as the two leads. So is it worth picking up? Unless your a Die Hard collector of all things DC Comics and haven't seen or own any of the shorts from previous releases it's hard to recommend to anyone else to be honest.Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam is a 2010 direct-to-video animated superhero short film co-produced and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos and written by Michael Jelenic, about the DC Comics characters Superman and Captain Marvel / Shazam cooperating to battle the powerful villain Black Adam. Special features on this Blu-Ray include commentaries on all shorts (which are quite interesting) & a handful of Batman/Justice League episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm which include all the characters from the shorts. Compared to an episode of say Justice League/Justice League Unlimited it barely registers as meh. The truth is were given a somewhat origin story of the Big Red cheese & his attempts to stop Black Adam's rampage with the help of The Man Of Steel. Is it any good? Average is how I'd best describe it. The 3 shorts mentioned come complete (& slightly extended though it's barely noticeable) here with the brand new 23 minute short Superman/Shazam!: The Return Of Black Adam.
The last few releases have come bundled with the rather excellent DC Showcase shorts higlighting the C-list characters of the DCU (These being The Spectre, Jonah Hex & Green Arrow). Superman/Shazam!: TROBA Special Edition Blu-Ray 2010ĭC Comic fans have been treated well these past few years with the ever excellent collection of DC Animated original movies.
